I was born in Bologna where I spent my youth and graduated in Economics in 1993. In 1994 I left for Boston where I completed a Master degree in 1996 and a Ph.D. in Economics in 2000 at Boston University (Boston, MA). In 1998 I started working at the Research department of the Bank of Italy, where I am currently Economist in the macro modeling division. During the academic year 2005-06 I was on leave, visiting the NBER and the Department of economics of Harvard University.

My research interest is mainly focused on public finance issues. I have worked on saving for retirement, saving adequacy, pension systems, public employment, the macroeconomic effects of fiscal policy in DSGE models. I have some work also on the macroeconomic effects af greater competition in Italy and inflation convergence in the euro area.
